Compiled Middleware Chains and Route Execution
Volten prepares a composed handler chain when routes are registered. On Node.js, compileMiddlewareChain() uses dynamic function construction when the runtime permits it. When isEdge() identifies an Edge-compatible environment, it uses createDynamicMiddlewareChain() instead of new Function().
The route execution engine adds a separate optimization for routes with exactly one effective handler: it dispatches directly to that handler while preserving Volten's handler-result and error-handling behavior. Routes with multiple effective handlers use the regular composed chain. The public app.inspectRoute(method, path) method reports the selected plan level without exposing the executable functions.
These paths are intended to reduce composition overhead, but they do not eliminate all per-request work or guarantee a fixed performance improvement. Benchmark the actual application and target runtime before drawing performance conclusions.
